First-prize winners of the 2004 ARD International Music Competition, this young French group has emerged as one of the most respected ensembles on the international concert scene. From the beginning, Quatuor Ebène’s complex oeuvre and intelligent, sensitive playing have been greeted enthusiastically by audiences and critics, alike. What makes this foursome all the more intriguing is a particular formula for success: by building their musical muscles through regular workouts of jazz, pop, and film score arrangements, Quatuor Ebène has developed a consistently direct, open-minded perspective on the great works of the chamber repertoire.
Program: Mozart / Quartet in D minor, K. 421 // Beethoven / Quartet in F minor, Op. 95, “Serioso” // Ravel / Quartet in F major
