Join us at 7 p.m. for a pre-concert talk by Markus Dubischar, Associate Dean of the Curriculum, Associate Professor of Classics, Charles Elliott Scholar of Latin and Greek in Room 108.

When the Takács Quartet recorded Beethoven’s sixteen string quartets (2002–2004), The New Yorker’s Alex Ross wrote: “This survey stands as the most richly expressive modern account of this titanic cycle.” Explosive, delicate, melancholic, fanciful, and above all, complex, the works startled listeners in their day, yet prevail as an artistic triumph for all ages. In observance of the 250th anniversary of the composer’s birth, the renowned Takács—“arguably the greatest string quartet in the world” (The Guardian)—return with works from each period, including the last complete piece Beethoven wrote, Opus 135.
