Fusing butoh and hip-hop dance theater, electronic music, and multimedia art, time/life/beauty is inspired by the music, art, and activism of famed composer-musician Ryuichi Sakamoto. Choreographer-writer-composer-performer Michael Sakamoto and composer-musician Paul D. Miller AKA DJ Spooky, in collaboration with dancer Mohammed Smahneh aka Barges, introduce a triptych that comprises time/life/beauty: Gods and Monsters, a music/dance/multimedia suite; asymm, an intimate solo by Sakamoto; and Beautiful Blue Sky, a dance duet with Sakamoto and Smahneh, featuring additional music by singer-songwriter H. Sinno.
