Gnossiennes
Simone Dinnerstein’s breakthrough 2007 recording of Bach’s Goldberg Variations introduced the concert world to a strikingly original artist, one whose aesthetic is both deeply rooted in the score and profoundly idiosyncratic. Her interpretive powers are at play in a program by turns lilting, beguiling, danceable, and reflective, where the urgency of Philip Glass’s Mad Rush and Couperin’s jaunty Tic Toc Choc complement the pensive introspection of Satie’s Gnossienes No. 3 and Schumann’s vivid Kreisleriana. “Ultimately, it is Dinnerstein’s unreserved identification with every note she plays that makes her performance so spellbinding” (Washington Post).
Program: Couperin / Les Barricades Mysterieuses and Le Tic-Toc-Choc // Schumann / Arabeske in C major, Op. 18 and Kreisleriana, Op. 16 // Glass / Mad Rush // Satie / Gnossienne No 3
Tickets: $30 for the general public; $6 for non-Lafayette students with valid I.D.
